HER RISE is an independent, digital platform created and produced entirely by a collective of 12 women, dedicated to analyzing Italy’s latest policies and positioning them in the broader European landscape. Our work goes beyond headlines—we delve into the complexities of political decisions, legislative changes, and socio-economic trends to uncover their real impact at both national and regional levels.

Rosalina Ferrajolo /Founder

Rosalina holds a BA in International Relations and Social Anthropology from SOAS University of London, and a MA in Conflict Resolution from the War Studies Department at King’s College London. She specialises in asymmetric conflicts and political violence in the MENA, with a focus on terrorism and insurgency. With a strong background in EMEA affairs and a passion for global development, she writes about domestic and foreign policy.

Emma Gentili

Emma has completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at SOAS University of London and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in International History and Politics at the Geneva Graduate Institute. She is passionate about the histories of reproductive politics, feminism, and imperialism, with a particular interest in analyzing demographic policies and discourses.

Giulia Nannini

Giulia studied at the University of Milan, specializing in Environmental Science and Policy; she is currently pursuing a joint degree in Transformative Sustainability at Bocconi University and Politecnico di Milano. With a strong background in environmental sciences and a passion for sustainability, she analyzes climate change dynamics with a strategic and multidisciplinary approach.

Luna Katrina Vriends

Luna is a Master’s student in Criminology at Malmö University with an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics. With a strong background in statistical and narrative analysis, her research focuses on structurally disadvantaged groups and how political decisions—particularly in Italy—reinforce systemic inequality in the criminal justice system.

Nora Dezsènyi

Nora holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from King’s College London and she is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Development Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is particularly interested in exploring how health, education and migration policies can foster or hinder progress and the development of countries at the national and international level.

Alice Lucchini

Alice Lucchini, graduated in International Studies with a specialisation in the MENA region and Arabic, she is now attending a Master’s in human rights and conflict management. Passionate about activism, politics, international relations, gender issues, human rights, and migration. She writes about domestic and foreign politics.

Caterina Guarna

Caterina Guarna got her BA in Anthropology and Music at SOAS, and she is now completing an MA in Fashion Journalism at Central Saint Martins. She is currently freelancing as a fashion journalist alongside finishing her studies. Guarna’s work focuses on material anthropology, fashion as a capitalistic tool and cultural phenomena.

Giorgia Sgueglia

She holds a degree in International Relations and China Studies from SOAS, University of London, and studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University on a CSC scholarship. An editorial assistant at Dezan Shira & Associates, she focuses on China’s global engagements. Fluent in multiple languages, her research explores East Asian politics and China’s role in world affairs.

Emma is an Environmental Policy and Regulations graduate at LSE where she examined institutional pathways to net-zero. Her work at SOAS explored sustainable development in China. She is now an ESG consultant, helping companies implement sustainable practices and navigate complex environmental regulations.

Sveva has a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Criminology from the University of Manchester and a Master's in International Relations from King’s College London. She is primarily interested in gender dynamics, foreign policy, and conflicts, with a particular focus on Eastern terrorism.

Flavia Sinisi Garcia

Flavia studied Psychology at Cardiff University and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology of Fashion at the University of the Arts London. With a focus on applying psychological principles to enhance the fashion industry, she is particularly passionate about circular practices and sustainability. Alongside her studies, she works in PR for the London-based sustainable designer Patrick McDowell.
